Shawnte McKinnon is not your average businesswoman. She is what the world would consider a renaissance woman. After conquering multiple businesses, experiences, and even serving in the air force, Shawnte decided to take all that she has learned and give back to other businesses to teach them all that she can.
“I’m a veteran of the United States Air Force, Media Personality, Author, Minister, Contributing Writer and I have worked as a financial professional for over 15 years. I’m the girl that never gives up. Life has thrown unimaginable curve balls my way. Some that are very hard to recover from but yet with the help of God, I just never gave up.
Mckinnon Strategic Consulting Group is a consulting firm that provides tailored business strategies for entrepreneurs, nonprofit organizations, small businesses, and corporations. We center our strategies around the operations, accounting, and financials of an organization to strengthen the core of our client’s business to promote sustainable growth and revenue retention. We provide these services through consulting and coaching. We prepare our clients to have a transient advantage within their business to stay competitive and keep skin in the game in any economic climate,” Shawnte explains.
As Shawnte details, after 15 years of experience, she has learned the many pitfalls and traps that entrepreneurs and other business owners fall into. Business can be incredibly turbulent and at times, even unpredictable. Shawnte wants to offer counseling and advice to make sure those turbulent times feel easy!
“I gained a vast amount of knowledge to help organizations and individuals to succeed, coupled with my entrepreneurial and intrapreneurial spirit I knew my gained knowledge and experience would be the solution for a lot of business problems, especially mid/post-pandemic. Many businesses were not prepared for those challenges that came with the pandemic and unfortunately were not able to survive. As a consequence, many businesses permanently closed in the last quarter of 2020. I knew my business is positioned to help organizations get beyond these types of crises, both predictable and unpredictable crises,” Shawnte states.
Shawnte’s biggest piece of advice for those starting their own business is that the first couple of months, even years, trying to get buy-in to your company will always be difficult. However, the pieces will fall into place as long as you keep trying to do what is best for you and your business.
“Garnering buy-in will be the first biggest challenge. People are inclined to do business with people they know, like and trust. However, this does not mean you will get the support from family, friends or banks initially. In the business world, you have to have thick skin, flexibility, and audacity. You need faith in yourself, your business and your skills/abilities to stay in the game when things are looking bleak. Failure is a part of success, accept it. This can be difficult for one to understand in the social media era where everyone’s highlight reel is posted almost everyday. Remember your why and keep going,” Shawnte advises.
Shawnte has big plans for the future. She details them below:
“Currently, my big project is helping burgeoning entrepreneurs to get their feet wet in the world of business, bridging economic gaps and bringing experts together from around the world to help business owners and executives scale their business on a global level.”
